Hurricane Laura was a deadly and destructive Category 4 hurricane that is tied with the 1856 Last Island hurricane as the strongest hurricane on record to make landfall in the U.S. state of Louisiana, as measured by maximum sustained winds.

The School Board had 34 campuses and 150 buildings that sustained severe damage from Hurricane Laura. Signal was brought on as the large-loss contractor to perform disaster recovery services including temp roofing, TPO, water extraction, mold removal, and selective asbestos abatement

Due to time pressure, Signal worked around the clock the get the properties back into a functional order. Within weeks, and after installing acoustical tiles to ceiling grids, students were able to return to campuses despite extensive damage due to the hurricane.

The scope of the recovery work included:

  • Temporary roofing
  • Water extraction and drying
  • Selective demo and reconstruction
  • Environmental stabilization
  • Temporary power
  • Acoustical Tile Ceiling Installation
