Over the course of 48 hours, wind and rain pummeled New York City as Superstorm Sandy made landfall on Oct. 29, 2012. Among the homes and businesses hit by the record strength storm were five New York Hospitals. It was critical to get the hospitals back to a safe, functioning level to be able to provide the community with life-saving care.

Clinical, administrative, and patient care areas were heavily damaged by millions of gallons of water. The lower floors and basements where HVAC, circuit platforms, elevator puts, switchgear, IT servers and archives had severe damage and required restoration. Signal brought in 900 workers during periods of the mitigation and restoration process.

Planning, extremely large working staff and specialty trades people, certified payroll, vast phases of work, moving resources in and out, permits, and constraints that come with working in a running hospital, required mastery in scheduling and project management.
